Stangerode is a small village on the Southeastern rim of the Harz Mountains, which do to its idylic setting has become a favorite vacation and recreation spot. The hiking, biking and riding opportunities are plentiful and lead through a beautiful countryside. There is a swimclub in the woods at Alterode.
