The Luther City Eisleben, Lutherstadt Eisleben lies in Saxony-Anhalt, in the Eastern part of Germany. Here, in the heart of the Mansfeld region, named for the Counts of Mansfeld, begin the foothills of the southern Harz Mountains. In Eisleben Martin Luther, the reformer, started his journey into history. To this day his life and times in this city and region, are of great attractions for historians, notable persons and tourists from all over the world. A stage for historic events, surrounded by rich farmland and rolling hills, Eisleben offers a variety of cultural sites and attractions. Convents like Helfta and St. Anne, sites of the copper mining industry, the famous Eisleber Wiesenmarkt in September, which started out as a regional farming fair and grew into a the biggest fair in Middle Germany, make it well worth a visit. It’s ideal location close to ancient archeological sites and numerous museums, make the Lutherstadt Eisleben a great stop-over on the famous “Romanik Road”.
